King's Cross is Wicked...I need help!

"Stylish and sleazy, decadent and depraved, colourful Kings Cross rides high above the CBD under the neon glare of the oversized Coca-Cola sign, which is as much a Sydney icon as LA’’s Hollywood sign. It’’s an intense, densely populated domain that prompted notorious artist and writer Donald Friend to comment: ‘‘In the Cross, everyone is wicked.’'"

Ran away from there...settling in now. All is right.

Soy Capitan!

I am the Captain, my life is my boat...

Melbourne

I'm going to skip Hobart (Tasmania) and write about Melbourne: so funny: went into this bar (Pellegrini's), made friends in around 3 minutes, got my stomach full of things I didn't even order and was walked back to my tram stop by an extremely handsome guy! So who cares that it was raining!!!

Fiordland Scenic Cruising

What can I say, simply breathtaking.

Couchsurfing Competition (Dunedin)

Another extremely successful couchsurfing experience. Ritchie not only showed all around Dunedin, he also told me about his travels in Europe and we found out that we are in fact competitors as he works for Fisher and Paykel. It’s so amusing, I used to study “competitive intelligence” in Europe and Fishel & Paykel was just this little company back in New Zealand, and now I actually get to spend a day with Ritchie who works there!

Ritchie told me about him having a break from work and traveling around Europe and told me that “a sabbatical here is not only encouraged, it’s expected!”. Well this surely is encouraging.

Christchurch

I feel like I saw everything there is to see in Christchurch courtesy of Deane.

Here are a few pics I’m quite proud of. Sheep, which are around 4 times more numerous than people in New Zealand and I think Australians are especially fond of pointing this out :)

And this pic that reminds me of Deane’s uplifting words: “good things take time”. I am a person that wants everything now and looking at this view just allows me to chill out because like every bird eventually learns to fly, I will eventually have all my dreams come true.

Couchsurfing Tauranga.

My first couchsurfing experience turned out to be a magnificent adventure. Xena picked me up at the harbor

and showed me some very interesting places

and people :)

She also briefed me on “kiwi blokes” and asked some very insightful questions which forced me to look inside myself and I realized that I actually do have the answers.

Thank you Xena.

Auckland

So I'm in Auckland! And I have already seen everything using my dad's proven sightseeing method: go up the highest point in the place and take a happy tourist bus.

I did the compulsory sky tower - without the jump but the guys jumping looked thrilled:

and hop on / hop off bus tour. I even went to the city museum and watched a traditional maori performance.

The perfect agenda to pursue in a foreign land, except for the fact that “there are no foreign lands, it is the traveler only who is foreign”. But I'm working on it.

Happy New Year!

Welcoming 2011 somewhere above China I had a feeling that this year is truly mine and I was so exhilarated drinking my glass of champagne and listening to Buddha Bar’s song “Desire” with Rumi’s words:

“I am life itself.
You have been a prisoner of a little pond,
I am the ocean and its turbulent flood.
Come merge with me,
leave this world of ignorance.”

And so I am literally getting out of my little pond and merging with the ocean.
